Collection: Clutch Parts

Motorcycle clutch parts are the components that make up the clutch system, which allows riders to engage and disengage power transmission between the engine and transmission for smooth gear changes and control. The primary components include clutch plates (friction plates with abrasive material and steel plates that sandwich together), clutch springs that provide pressure to keep plates engaged, the pressure plate that compresses the clutch pack, and the clutch basket (outer housing) and clutch hub (inner splined component) that hold everything together. The clutch cable (on cable-operated systems) or hydraulic clutch lines, master cylinder, and slave cylinder (on hydraulic systems) transmit lever input to the clutch mechanism. Other critical parts include the clutch cover gasket that seals the engine case, release/throwout bearing on some designs, clutch pushrod that actuates the pressure plate, and various bolts, springs, and hardware. Performance upgrades and replacement parts include heavy-duty clutch springs for reduced slippage under hard use, aftermarket friction plates from brands like Barnett, EBC, or Surflex offering better heat resistance and durability, slipper clutches that prevent rear-wheel hop during aggressive downshifting, hydraulic clutch conversion kits for smoother engagement, and quick-release clutch levers. Regular maintenance involves inspecting plates for wear (warping, glazing, or reduced thickness), replacing springs when they lose tension, and adjusting cable free-play or bleeding hydraulic systems to maintain proper engagement and prevent slippage or dragging that can damage the transmission or cause poor performance.
